Unit Head Technology Risk Governance

JOB Description

The purpose of the job role is to lead implementation of Technology Risk framework that includes identifying potential risks and developing controls that must be followed to reduce or manage those risks. Part of the job is involvement with technology teams to ensure IT systems/processes are structured/ implemented in a way that largely addresses varied types of technology risks affecting the business.

  • Identify/ classify IT assets in terms of Risk. Conduct Risk Assessment of IT environment while identifying vulnerabilities to the IT environment (internal and external networks, hardware, software, applications, systems interfaces, operations and human elements).
  • Quantify risk exposure and impact of such exposures to overall business and operations. Access existing control regime and help prepare risk mitigation and control strategies in shape of a risk treatment plan that are in alignment with the value of the Bank’s information assets and risk appetite where required. Conduct from time to time; assessment of specific risks to ensure safety and continuity of services/ operations.
  • Maintain inventory of risks and controls. Regularly report significant risks and status of risk mitigation activities. Develop IT risk reporting methodologies to highlight systems, processes or infrastructure that have high risk exposure in shape of a risk register having priority/ treatment plan.
  • Periodic review and update of risk management processes & re-evaluation/ testing methodologies to ensure adequacy and effectiveness of risk management processes.
  • Prepare and provide periodic update to Department Head & Senior Management on the technology risk related initiatives as well as results of tests and assessments from time to time.
  • Participation in the evaluation of various IT projects/ processes/ governance decisions to ensure risk is substantially reviewed and factored/ mitigated.

Experience & Skills

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Certifications in IT Risk/ Security are preferred.
  • Proficient in understanding of business, operations, regulations, and risk management.
  • Ability to understand technical infrastructure and conduct reviews and make recommendations to build required controls to mitigate risk.
  • Awareness of the Regulatory and Legal Environment
  • Strong communication, analytical and negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes
